Gianluigi’s ownership and management of the farmland produces olives from centuries-old olive trees in an area where the olive orchards are kept healthy by relatively constant warm temperatures from Adriatic breezes. No chemicals or pesticides are used.
Area: Pianello, Abruzzo. The Vestine Hills, between the foothills of the Apenines and the Adriatic.
Olive: Dritta, Intosso and Ascolano
Harvest: 2024– first week of October
Harvest Method: Hand-picked
Extraction Method: cold pressed, on the property, within the first day of harvesting
Color Notes: Dark green with light yellow tones
Tasting Notes: Medium flavor, notes of sage, artichoke and ripe tomato, with a thick, rich body and supple finish.
We use it like Abruzzo natives… generously, in tomato-sauced pasta dishes; hearty, rustic bean and farro soup; grilled lamb skewers; and of course, drizzled over bruschetta.
